Jake Binnee Wins The Brits

Posted by Christian Williams on

"I only decided at the last minute to go to the Brits competition, as the Big Bang event was also on at the same time, my local slope Xscape, Milton Keynes.

So on the Friday night we packed all our kit into our SnoKart bags and travelled up to Manchester with fellow MK rider Becky Menday, ready for an early start Saturday morning.

We was up pretty early and after a quick breakfast headed over to Chill Factore to Register.

So as Number 58 I headed off out for the Jam session, Slope was ok and running fast and set up seemed good.

I got selected to compete in the knockouts for the overall with all the adult riders, got through to zone 1 with a couple of other groms but got knocked out at zone 2 but was happy to get that far.

Then it was time for the age group competition a 2 run format, There was about 16 in my group which put the pressure on a bit.

My first run had a good start 50/50 FS 180, on the gaspipe to gap, to boardslide on gap to downbar, then frontboard on the downbar, finishing with a board slide Pretzel 2 out on the shotgun, but caught my edge at the end and snapped the strap on my binding!!!

My Second run was next, so I had to try and secure my binding the best I could.

Front board on the bar, to boardslide on the donkey bar, to 50/50 180 out on the shotgun bars, finishing with cab 1 to back1 revert, on down flat down pipe.

So Stoked when my name was the last called for the Gold Medal under 16's category!!
I really couldnt believe I won!

Well done also to second place James Waterman and third place Bradley Rowell.
Also to Callum Paton for overall Winner".
